Our gardener started their journey with a collection of baby plants, propagated from their mother’s plants – a fantastic way to expand a plant collection! The process usually involves taking cuttings and encouraging them to grow roots in water before potting them.
Growing plants in water, or water propagation, is a simple yet fascinating way to multiply your favorite plants. It allows you to witness the root development firsthand – a truly mesmerizing experience. Once the roots are well-established, the seedlings are ready for their permanent homes in pots. This crucial step provides the plants with the necessary nutrients and space to grow.
It is important to mention that choosing the right time for potting is essential. Moving the plant to soil when the roots are too small can lead to problems, while waiting too long can stunt the plant’s growth or lead to root bound which is a situation when the roots become so congested that they don’t have room to grow.
